Alice B. Gales

Benson, NC: Mrs. Alice B. Gales, age 75, of Marler Road passed into the arms of Jesus Christ on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Betsy Johnson Hospital with her family by her side. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Thomas Oxendine and Thomas Pearce. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. 

Mrs. Gales was born on October 9, 1949 in Johnston County to the late William Lenon and Eunice Pittman Barefoot. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Media Robbins and brothers, Kenneth Barefoot and Danny Barefoot. Prior to retirement, she worked as a switch builder for the Eaton Corporation. Mrs. Gales was a hardworking and caring woman. She loved life and enjoyed spending her days with her husband going to Walmart and Smithfield’s Chicken and Barbeque, where you found one, you would find the other. She also loved spending time with her family. Mrs. Gales showed the light of her Lord and Savior in all she did, she would help anyone in need and never turned away a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew her but especially her husband of 51 years and their family.

Surviving includes her husband, Vernon Gales; son, Chris Gales and wife, Connie; grandchildren, Will Gales and wife, Miciah and Shelby Gales; great grandson, Greyson Gales; step-grandchildren, Hannah Lee and husband, Thomas and Cecil Dale Thornton and wife, Annika; step-great grandchildren, Ayden, Layton, and Tucker; sister, Becky Jernigan; several nieces and nephews; and grand dogs, Deuce, Willie, Teddy Ray, and Lucy Lou. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Chris and Connie Gales at 233 Francis Dr. Dunn, NC 28334. 

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association for Atrial Fibrillation Research at PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
