Ava June Olive

Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Ava June Jones Olive, age 83, of 3595 Packing Plant Road, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Graveside Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, March 12, 2021 at Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 3689 NC Highway 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.  Rev. Brian Beasley will officiate.                Mrs. Olive was born on December 10, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Archie Moore and Callie Ava Jones.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Al Olive, brothers, Rudolph Jones, A.M. Jones, Roy Jones and a sister, Lucy Smith. Mrs. Olive worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Denning, and was a preschool teacher with Kids Kampus.  Following retirement she worked alongside her family at Lazy O Farm. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.                   Survivors include her daughters, Tami Thompson and husband, David; and Dawn Olive; grandchildren, Denise Stancil and husband, Ken, Jamie Thompson and wife, Morgan, and Jacob Thomas Lee; great grandchildren, Truett Alexander Stancil and Olivia Leigh Stancil, McKenzie Jordan Gross, Josephine Maine Thompson and Stella Agnes Thompson; brothers, Billy Jones and Jaylon Jones; many nieces and nephews.                The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery and other times at the home.             In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Barbour's Chapel Advent Christian Church Children's Choir Fund PO Box 357, Four Oaks, NC 27524; Pisgah Baptist Church Youth Fund 3689 NC HWY 210, Smithfield, NC 27577; or to Johnston Health Foundation Hospice Fund PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.              Our life is a garden, each deed a tiny seed.  Help me plant flowers, not naughty ugly weeds!             In Accordance with NC-COVID -19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
