Barbara Denning

August 15, 1938 — December 10, 2017

Benson, NC:  Mrs. Barbara Jean Whittington Denning, age 79, of 1431 Denning Road died Sunday at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen and Rev. Don Sauls.  Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.Mrs. Denning was born on August 15, 1938, in  Johnston County to the late Clarence Andrew and Lillie Mae Grimes Whittington.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Joe" Edward Denning; brothers, Thomas Whittington, Leonard Whittington, Richard Whittington, Jerry Whittington.  Mrs. Denning was the owner and operator of Denning Daycare for 20 years and worked side by side with her husband with Joe Denning and Sons Farms and Denning Transport.  She was a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.She is survived by children & spouses, Jo Carol & Keith Hudson of Benson, Max Edward & Sheila Denning of Benson; Hunter Mark & Pamela Denning of Benson; Jean Ellen & Tommy Beasley of Benson; and Joseph Andrew & Leslie Denning of Newton Grove; grandchildren & spouses, Holly H. & Jermaine Newkirk, Heidi H. & Clifton Pegues, Jordan & Brittany Denning, Barrett & Tonya Denning, Lena Denning, Hunter & Kristan Denning, Kelli & Asa Bynum, and Scarlett Denning; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, & cousins.The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday and other times at the home.Flowers are welcomed; however memorials may be made to Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, C/O Rachel Denning, PO Box 442, Benson, NC 27504Service Information
