Bernard Parsons

May 7, 1925 — February 8, 2014

McGee's Crossroad's: Mr. Bernard C. Parsons, age 88, died Saturday at his residence. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Tuesday at Providence Presbyterian Church, Angier. Rev. Jim Davis will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Fellowship Community Cemetery with Fireman Rites.   Mr. Parsons was born in Johnston County to the late John Blackman and Nora Amanda Leigh Brown Parsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Grey Sauls Parsons; sisters, Iola P. Barefoot, Leta P. Allen, Annie Margaret P. Bryant; brothers, John Marion Parsons, Charles Milton Parsons, Willie Edward Parsons, James D. Parsons.  Mr. Parsons was a retired farmer and the Founding Chief of the 50/210 Community Fire Department, serving from 1959 until his retirement in 1980. He was also an active member of the 50/210 Community Fire Department Board of Directors from 1959 until present. Mr. Parsons was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, where he served in many capacities. Mr. Parsons served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Benson American Legion Banner Post 109 for over 60 years. Surviving are Son and Daughter-In-Law, Gary and Judy Parsons of Raleigh; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Annette and Joe Williamson of Apex; Grandchildren and Spouses, Gavin and Melanie Parsons of Raleigh; Cameron and Arielle Parsons of Raleigh; Ashleigh Jo Williamson of Apex; Great-Grandchildren, Garreth Parsons, Ansley Parsons, Tabitha Parsons; Brother and Sister-In-Law, Sidney and Annette Sauls; Several Nieces & Nephews; Special Friends, Ronnie and JoAnn Creech and Rick and Margie Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the 50/210 Community Fire Department, 50 Greenleaf Rd., Angier, NC 27501.
