Bessie Whitman

Benson, NC:  Ms. Bessie McGee Whitman, age 75, of 303 S. Dunn Street, died Friday, December 21, 2018, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.  Funeral Service will be 3:30 PM Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Benson Church of God. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Whitman, Rev. Allen Gupton and Rev. Jeff Person.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.         Ms. Whitman was born on September 28, 1943, in Harnett County to the late Carlie and Emily Mae Clifton McGee. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Whitman Maynard, brothers, Charles McGee and Troy McGee and a sister, Betty McGee Blanchard.  Ms. Whitman retired from the North Carolina Child Support Services office and was a member of Benson Church of God.      Surviving include sons and daughters-in-law, Connie Whitman and wife, Alicia of Benson and Rev. Richard Whitman and wife, Gayle of Erwin; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; brother, Roy Lee McGee of Angier; and sister, Jewel Perry of Kinston;  many nieces and nephews. The family will  receive friends from 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM prior to the service at Benson Church of God.
