Betty Sue Barnes

Coats, NC: Mrs. Betty Sue Willis Barnes, age 90, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at The Landing’s in Smithfield, NC. Funeral Services will be 4:00PM- Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats, NC. Rev. Fred Atkins will officiate. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC. 

Mrs. Barnes was born on September 21, 1933 in Harnett County, NC to the late James E. and Ruby Turlington Willis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neal Alexander Barnes, sister, Jean Coats, and brother, Jimmy Willis. Mrs. Barnes was a registered nurse, and retired as the ER Nurse Manager at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, VA. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA, where she served in many capacities. 

Surviving include her children, Rhonda Courtney and husband, Richard of Monroe, NC, Laura Rose and husband, Rick of Princeton, NC, and Steven Neal Barnes of Colonial Heights, VA; grandchildren, Bo Adkins and wife Amber, Samantha Bass, Ryan Denny and wife, Jorden, and Paul Denny; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Scout, Jozy, Parker and Foster; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 3:00PM-3:45PM-Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC.
