Billy Whittington

Coats, NC: Mr. Billy Douglas Whittington, age 77, of 1742 Bill Avery Road died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his residence. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 11:00AM at Pleasant Memory Baptist Church.  Officiating will be Revs. Stancil Baucom and Ronnie Byrd. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery.  Mr. Whittington was born September 16, 1934 in Harnett County to the late Joseph Tyson and Rena Williams Whittington. He was also preceded in death by sister, Agatha McLamb; and brothers, Stacy, Preston, Fonzer, Garland, and Phillip Whittington.  Mr. Whittington served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109.  He worked at Erwin Mills for 44 years and attended Pleasant Memory Baptist Church. Surviving include Wife of 57 years, Margie Capps Whittington; Daughters & Son-in-law, Kim W. Holmes of Lillington and Karen W. & Woody Barbour of Raleigh; Granddaughters, Stephanie Holmes of Washington State and Laina Barbour of Raleigh; Sisters & Brother-in-law, Christine Matthews of Lillington and Marie & Bobby Honeycutt of Raleigh; Brother & Sister-in-law, Robert McKinley & Margaret Whittington of Coats; Sisters-in-law, Marva Whittington of Raleigh and Jewel Whittington of Coats; Several Nieces & Nephews; and Special Family Friend, Cathy Smith. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.  The family expresses appreciation to Liberty Home Care & Hospice for their care shown to Mr. Whittington.
