Billy Ray Barbour

July 17, 1930 — March 29, 2016

Four Oaks, NC:  Mr. Billy Ray Barbour, age 85, of  9468 NC 210 Hwy, passed away Tuesday at his residence. Funeral service will be 2:00PM-Friday at St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson.  Burial will follow in  church cemetery.  Officiating will be Revs. David Langley and Billy Nowell.             Mr. Barbour was born July 17, 1930 in Durham County to the late Seth Eather and Stella Leona Roberts Barbour.   Mr. Barbour was a retired transmission specialist with Johnston and Wake County school systems. Mr. Barbour was a member of St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, Benson.                  Surviving are wife of sixty-seven years, Rosa Lee Overman Barbour; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Allen Danenburg of Coats, Paula and Miles Sawyer of Elon; grandchildren, Tessa and Scott Altman of Coats, Gordon Sawyer of Elon; great-grandchildren, Korra and Kinsey Altman of Coats; sisters, Leta Grey Stephenson  and Trudy Benson both of Four Oaks; nephews, Dwain Stephenson of Four Oaks and Jason Benson of Iowa; niece, Yvonne Surles of  Dunn; great-nephew, Sean Stephenson of Four Oaks.             The family will receive friends 12:30PM-1:45PM Friday prior to the service at St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church in Benson and other times at the home.             The family wishes to thank Shelia Lynn, Mechelle Huff, and Brenda Martinez for their loving care given to Mr. Barbour.             Flowers are welcomed, however memorials may be sent to St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 7970 Raleigh Road, Benson, NC 27504 or to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
