Brenda Horne

Benson, NC: Mrs. Brenda W. Horne, age 69, of 257 Aquilla Road died Friday, December 20, 2019 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 6:00PM Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Garner Church of God. Officiating will be Revs. J. D. Hudson and J. Dan Hudson. Graveside Services will be 11:00AM Monday, December 23, 2019 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.             Mrs. Horne was born August 9, 1950 in Johnston County to the late Joseph and Alene Whitman Wiggins.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Janice Lockamy and a brothers, Rayvon Wiggins and Ronald Wiggins. Mrs. Horne retired with 29 years of service with the North Carolina State Department of Health and Epidemiology. She was the administrative assistant to the state health director. Mrs. Horne received the prestigious award of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Governor Pat McCrory on the day of her retirement. She had a deep love for southern gospel music and currently served on the State Annual Singing Convention Board in Benson. Mrs. Horne was a member of the Garner Church of God.             Survivors are her husband of 49 years, Bobby Horne; son, Anthony Horne of Nash County; step-children, Michael Horne and Laurie Horne both of San Diego, California; one step-grandson; two step-great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnne Dennis of Dunn; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.
