Bruce Wood

Benson, NC: Mr. Bruce Wayne Wood, age 62, of 2909 Hwy 242 South died Thursday at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh.  A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, June 7, 2015 at  Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Pastor Eddie White. Mr. Wood was born February 8, 1953 in London, England to the late Ernest and Christine Abbott Wood. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Diana Rogers. From the mid 1970s to early 1980s, he worked as an EMT in the ER at Cape Fear Hospital in Fayetteville.  He also served as a Fayetteville firefighter and police officer.  Mr. Wood was then accepted to Duke University to be in the second ever class of physician's assistants.  His career as a physician's assistant continued for many years and he touched many lives. Surviving are his wife, Teresa Watkins Wood; children & spouse, Ashley & Brian Parker of Durham, Zack Wood of Florida, Suzanne Coffield of Stem; brothers, Ernest Wood, Jr. of Indiana, Kenneth Wood of Pittsboro; and four grandchildren, Cue & Thatcher Wood and Dalton & Ava Parker. Family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC  27607 or to one's favorite charity.
