Buddy Messer

Mr. Buddy Messer, age 81, of Coats died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Friday, December 16, 2011, at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats.  Officiating will be Rev. Ronnie Byrd. Burial will follow in the Coats City Cemetery. Mr. Messer was born September 3, 1930 in Harnett County to the late Dallas A. and Lessie Tyson Messer. He was also preceded in death by a Brother, Winfred Messer.  Mr. Messer retired from civil service at Fort Bragg and later owned and operated a gas station. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Banner Post 109. Surviving include his very special friend, Mayme Carter of Sanford; Daughter, Karen Garner & husband, Kenny, of Texas; Son, Craig Dallas Vick of Texas; Grandchildren, Keith Garner and Jamie Garner; Great Grandchild, Ryan Walker; Sisters, Louise Rossman of Raleigh, Hilda Tyndall, and husband, James, of Raleigh, Goldie Powell of Fuquay, Lois Harris and husband, Rick, of N. Myrtle Beach; Brother, Billy Messer and wife, Carolyn, of Coats; and several nieces & nephews. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, December 15, 2011, and other times at the home of Billy and Carolyn Messer, 1214 Delma Grimes Road, Coats, NC. Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center, 185 Pine State Street, Lillington, NC  27546.
