Benson, NC: Mr. Carlton B. Jernigan, age 74, of 9539 US 301 South died Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Rev. Joey Yow. Burial will follow in Oliver's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks.
Mr. Jernigan was born July 31, 1940 in Johnston County to the late John B. and Lucille McLamb Jernigan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Hardee Jernigan; sister, Ellen Bunnells; and brothers, Donald Ray Jernigan and J. C. Jernigan. Mr. Jernigan was the owner and operator of Carlton's Woodworks.
Surviving are his wife, Hilda McCullen Jernigan; sons & daughters-in-law, Eric & Tara Jernigan of Four Oaks and Ricky & Anita Jernigan of Dunn; grandchildren, Logan Jernigan and Landon Jernigan; stepdaughters & husbands, Barbara & Todd Lee of Benson and Cyndy & Billy Joe Godwin of Benson; step grandchildren, Tiffany Teats, Kristen Lee, Josh Godwin, and Amanda Godwin; step great granddaughter, Allie Teats; sisters, Jewel Gray Lee of Smithfield, Eloise Cox of Hope Mills, Janice Lynch of Kenly, and Joyce Bain of Fuquay Varina and brother, Ed Jernigan of Benson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday at the home, 9539 US 301 South, Four Oaks.
