Benson: Mrs. Carol Daughtridge Horton, age 85, of 601 West Church Street died Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at Bright Funeral Home Chapel in Wake Forest. Officiating will be Mrs. Elizabeth Tiller. Entombment will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.
Mrs. Horton was born February 21, 1932 in Rocky Mount to the late James and Mary Daughtridge. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Maurice V. Horton; a son, Elijah House, Jr.; grandson, David Wayne House; sisters, Hazel Sams, Mildred Childress, Margie Williams, and Patricia Bone; brothers, Charles Daughtridge and Ray Daughtridge; and son-in-law, Gene Edmondson. She was a retired administrative assistant for the automotive center at Sears and was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Raleigh.
Surviving are children, Roger House of Benson, Pat Potter & husband, Frank, of Benson, & Darlene Edmondson of Zebulon; sister, Janice Sykes & husband, S.W., of Hampton, VA; special friend & soul mate, Clifton R. Raynor and his children of Benson; 15 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday.
