Celia Coates Snipes

Buies Creek, NC: Mrs. Celia Annette Coates Snipes, age 88, of Highland Drive passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 3, 2024 at her home. A Graveside Memorial Service will held-2:00 PM Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier. Officiating will be Rev. Charles Price. 

Mrs. Snipes was born on October 30, 1935 in Johnston County to the late Rev. Cadmus Hunter Coates and Mary Evelyn Hall Coates. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Snipes. Prior to retirement she worked as an administrative assistant at the Alumni Office at Campbell University. She was someone who never met a stranger and made friends easily with her dry sense of humor and quick wit. She loved to read, play the piano, and shop with her friends, especially at Hamricks. She loved to cook for her family and friends and was famous for her banana pudding. She was a big supporter of the United States Military and its veterans. More than anything she loved her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. 

Survivors include her daughters, Lewanne Norris and husband, Kenneth of Greensboro and Larue Thompson and husband, Marshal of Buies Creek; grandchildren, Erin Norris Raynor and husband, Mark, Hunter Kendall Norris and wife, Amber, Samuel Thompson, and Matthew Thompson; great grandchildren, Matthew Waddell, Ruby Raynor, and Mason and Wyatt Raynor; chosen sister, Sylvia Turlington Byrd; and furbaby, Satch.
