Benson, NC: Mr. Charles Edward Blackman, age 76, of 411 East Morris Avenue died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 3, 2019 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Glenn McCullen and Kelvin Blackman. Private Burial will follow at Piney Green Baptist Church Cemetery in Salemburg.
Mr. Blackman was born March 9, 1943 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Sebie Blackman and Gladys Massengill Royal. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Cozart Royal. Mr. Blackman owned and operated CEB Electric. He also helped Byrd Electric and Repair and was a member of Benson PFWB Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ann Blackmon Blackman; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Charles Kelvin and Brenda Blackman of Dunn; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Mike Marseglia of Willow Springs; grandchildren and spouses, Christy and Chris Dorman of Tifton, GA, Emily and Richard Daughtridge of Benson, Felicia Blackman of Willow Spring and Jimmy and Jerri Blackman of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Keith Dorman, Eleanor Dorman, Stewart Dorman, Landyn Lee, Paisley Short, Abraham Daughtridge and Emersyn Daughtridge; sister, Regina Honeycutt of Piney Green; brother, Billy Blackman of Newton Grove; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM - 8:00PM Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
