Charles Spivey

Greensboro, NC:  Mr. Charles Douglas Spivey, age 78, died Friday at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats. Officiating will be the Rev. Eddie Souther, Sr.  Burial will follow in the Coats City Cemetery, Coats.Mr. Spivey was born November 30, 1938 in Harnett County to the late Simeon and Carlie Honeycutt Spivey. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Gerald Spivey, Mozelle Carroll, Bobby Spivey, Booney Spivey, and Ed Spivey.  He was a mechanic in the heat and air business, a member of the Lynwood Lakes Baptist Church, an avid fisherman, and a NASCAR fan.Surviving include his wife, Joy Clayton Fleming Spivey; children & spouses, Tammy & Phil Thompkins of Locust, Ga., Pamela  Trogden of Greensboro, Tina Whittington of Maryland and  Scotty & June Worley of Stokesdale, NC, stepsons & spouse, Forrest & Janet Fleming of Coats and Scott Fleming of Asheville;  sister & spouse, Lou & Clay Smothers of Climax, NC; brother & spouse, Billy Ray & Kate Spivey of Petersburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren & spouses, Tricia & Chris Garner, Brian & Amanda Comer, Kristy & Jason Hicks, Katie Peaster, Chris & Ashley Trogden, Danielle Gerringer, Caitlin Trogden, Taylor Whittington, Karlie Whittington, Chase Worley, Madison Worley, Carol Lane Fleming, and Clay Fleming; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats from 1:30PM to 2:30PM prior to the service Sunday and other times at 277 Orange Street, Coats, NC 27521.Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.Service Information
