Charles Upchurch

Four Oaks: Mr. Charles Edward Upchurch, age 75, of 626 Boyette Road passed away Monday, April 30, 2012, at Smithfield Manor in Smithfield. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. John Norman.  Interment will follow in the Four Oaks City Cemetery. Mr. Upchurch was born June 2, 1936 in Johnston County to the late John Dalma and Bertha Mae Strickland Upchurch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Upchurch. Mr. Upchurch was a retired salesman with Belk’s, Alfred Williams and Company, Edwards and Broughton Company, and Medlin Printing.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson. Mr. Upchurch was a member of the First Baptist Church of Four Oaks and was a former Town of Four Oaks commissioner. Surviving included, Daughter, Sonya Upchurch Ennis of Four Oaks; Grandchildren, Will Barbour and Hunter Ennis; Step-Grandchildren, Daniel Ennis and Sammie Ennis; Step Great-Grandson, James Maxwell; Sister and Brother-In-Law, Tom and Lea Moore of Smithfield; Nephew, Kendall Moore of Smithfield; and Niece, Michele M. Grady of Kenly. Family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Flowers are welcomed; however memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Four Oaks, P. O. Box 717, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
