Charles "Charlie" Harper

Benson, NC:  Mr. Charles "Charlie" Herbert Harper, age 85, of 1743 NC 242 North died Tuesday at his residence.   Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Mr. Geoffrey Harper. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Harper was born July 28, 1928 in Johnston County to the late E. B. and Callie McLamb Harper.  He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he earned a Bronze Star.  Mr. Harper was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109 for over 60 years where he served in many capacities and was a past commander.  He owned and operated Charlie's Carousel and was the author of "Pole Cat Branch." Surviving are wife of 58 years, Frances Hargis Harper; sons & daughter-in-law, Geoffrey & Julie Harper of Raleigh and Pat Harper of Fayetteville; sister, Sallie H. Benson of Durham; and grandchildren, Zachary Harper, Samuel Harper, and Callie Harper.          Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 10:00AM to 10:45AM Friday prior to the service.
