Chester Parker

Four Oaks, NC: Chester Parker of Parkertown Road passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 surrounded by his beloved wife Brenda and family by his side. Funeral Services will be held 5:00PM Monday, July 26, 2021 at the family’s residence outside Four Oaks, NC. Reverend Billy Nowell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Parker Family Cemetery, Four Oaks, NC.

Mr. Parker was born in Four Oaks on December 23, 1940, to Willie Oscar and Nola Bell Capps Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Aaron Parker, O.C. Parker, Ervin Parker, Norman B. Parker, sisters Hilda Hailey, Mildred Adams, Leola McLamb, Sally Ruth Tew, father-in-law Joseph A. West, and mother-in-law Letha Parker West.

Mr. Parker learned the value of hard work growing up on the family farm. After turning 18, he briefly moved to Virginia to work in manufacturing for Babcock and Phillips. It was there he met Brenda, the love of his life and partner, for 56 years. After returning to live in Four Oaks, he worked for the State Prison system, and after retirement, worked as a carpenter and builder. He was a kind neighbor, loving father, and dedicated husband. He found joy in helping others. His hobbies included spending time with his family, fishing, and hosting family and friends at his annual pig pickins.

Surviving include his wife of 56 years, Brenda West Parker; son Jeffery Parker and wife, Angie of Selma; son Leon Parker, and wife Kim of Four Oaks; son Keith Parker of Kitty Hawk; precious grandchildren, Victoria Norris, Zachary Parker, Tyler Parker, Dakota Renfrow; great-grandchildren Marlie Parker, Jackson Parker, Carson Norris, Wyatt Norris; brother Kenneth Parker, and wife Pat of Benson; sister Judy Wood, and husband Raylon of Four Oaks; many special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:45PM, Monday, July 26, 2021, prior to the service at the family residence located at 1642 Parkertown Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524.

A special thank you to the incredible staff and volunteers at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield for their loving care and support during Mr. Parker’s final days.
