Claudia Whittington Norris

Coats, NC: Mrs. Claudia Norris Whittington Norris, age 87, of Fairground Road, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn, NC. Revs. James Gurkins, Kim Strickland and Donnie Barbour will officiate.

Mrs. Norris was born on January 13, 1935 in Harnett County, NC to the late William Dallas and Bertie Lucille Parrish Norris.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Ira Whittington and Nathan Earl Norris, son, Allen Whittington, sons-in-law, Johnny Bailey, and Tommie Whitley, sisters, Minnie Henry, Maude Daniels and Juanita Pope, brother, Utley Norris, and a step-son-in-law, Tony Ivey.  Mrs. Norris was a retired seamstress and homemaker.  She was a member of Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Coats, NC where she served as the church pianist for 55 years.

Surviving include her children, Vickie Whittington and husband, Tex; Ann Whittington, Dale Whittington and wife, Lorie, Tony Whittington, Bonnie Whitley, Lewis Whittington and wife, Angie; Chris Whittington and wife, Lisa; daughter-in-law, Hope Whittington; step-children, Cathy Pleasant and husband, Rodney, Tom Norris and wife, Lorrie, Todd Norris and wife, Sherry, and Cindy Ivey; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; ten step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Griffin; special dog, Lacy; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church 5355, Red Hill Church Road, Coats, NC 27521.
