Cleo Johnson Byrd

Benson, NC: Mrs. Cleo Johnson Byrd, age 97, of West Woodall Street passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Services will be held 3:00PM - Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Glenn McCullen.

Mrs. Byrd was born on July 27, 1925 in Johnston County, NC to the late Bud Elmon and Bettie Jane Jones Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rufus Byrd; great-granddaughter, Brooke Tart Honald; sisters, Lessie Beasley, and Bessie Blackman; brother, Bill Johnson. Mrs. Byrd retired from the Jerold Corporation, loved her family, and enjoyed pier fishing at the beach.

Surviving include her children, Donald L. Byrd and wife, Betty Lou of Benson, Brenda J. Byrd of Benson, Judy C. Byrd Johnson of Benson; grandchildren, Annette Campbell and husband, Tony, Anthony Byrd and wife, Pat, Pamela Stephenson, Troy Byrd and wife, Paige; great-grandchildren, Nikki Hyatt, Zachery Stephenson, Anna Grace Stephenson, Clint Benson, Katie Barefoot and husband, Tyler, A. J. Byrd, Madison Clifton and husband, Brett, Reagan Byrd, Kennedy Byrd; great-grandchildren, Kenzie Tart, Addison Honald, Ellery Barefoot, Maverick Barefoot, Jameslee Barefoot; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be an open-door visitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Donald and Betty Lou Byrd, 604-C Morgan Road in Benson.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
