Clyda Ellen Jernigan Oakley

Benson, NC: Mrs. Clyda Ellen Jernigan Oakley, age 89, of NC Hwy 50 South passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at BellaRose Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Garner surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM - Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Baldwin. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Oakley was born on October 27, 1933 in Johnston County, NC to the late Zero and Nancy Clyda McLamb Jernigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Campbell Oakley; daughter, Sandra Oakley Parker; son-in-law, Kenneth Clifton; sisters and brothers, Colonel Jernigan, Myrtle Jernigan Lee, Coleman Jernigan, Addie Pearl Jernigan Royal, Othel Jernigan, Elgie Jernigan Allen, Frances Jernigan Hall, J.R. Jernigan, Tiny Jernigan, and Z. D. Jernigan. Mrs. Oakley retired from textiles and attended Community Chapel Church.

Surviving include her daughter, Karen O. Gibbs and husband, Larry of Benson; son-in-law, Bill Joe Parker and wife, Donna of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Kent Clifton, Hank Clifton and wife, Jessie, Cami Joe Faircloth and husband, Eddie, Christine Allen and husband, Richard, Sarah Renuart and husband, Kevin, Patrick Gibbs and wife, Tamaca; great-grandchildren, Caroline Faircloth, Henry Clifton, Benjamin Clifton, Julie Ann Thornburg, Andrew Gibbs, Catie Allen, Lucille Gibbs, Hunter Renuart, Brayden Renuart, and William Renuart; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Cami Faircloth, 5158 NC Hwy 50 South, Benson, NC 27504.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.

The Oakley Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of BellaRose Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for there loving and compassionate care of Mrs. Clyda.
