Benson, NC: Mr. Carl Stephen “Steve” Auman, age 62, of Benson died Friday, January 25, 2013, at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, January 28, 2013, at 5:30PM at Benson United Methodist Church. Revs. Ron Patton and Earl Dulaney will officiate.
Mr. Auman was born in Randolph County on January 10, 1951 to Noel Auman of Benson and the late Doris King Auman. He was a partner of Benson Veneer Company for 34 years and then was a real estate broker with Johnson Realty in Angier. Mr. Auman was a member of the Benson Kiwanis Club and Benson United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities. Steve was very active in community affairs and served on many local advisory boards, including Benson Area Medical Center. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in 1981, Benson Citizen of the Year in 1984, and Kiwanian of the Year in 1988. In 2005, Steve and his family were honored with the Small Business of the Year Award. The Mule Day’s Committee presented the program booklet to Steve in 2007.
Steve is survived, in addition to his father, by wife, Susan Keller Auman; daughters, Allison Auman of Tarrytown, NY, and Katherine Auman & fiancé, Adam Carroll, of Raleigh; sister & brother-in-law, Noela & Bill Woodall of Benson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Philip W. & Penny Keller of Texas; and nephews, Eric Woodall, Clay Woodall, Daniel Keller, and Alex Keller.
The family will receive friends at Benson United Methodist Church immediately following the service.
