Benson, NC: Mr. David “Billy” Clifton McLamb, age 89, of Elevation Road passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held-6:00 PM Monday, April 14, 2025 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Ron Byrd and Elvin Butts. A committal service will be held the following day at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mr. McLamb was born on July 16, 1935 in Johnston County to the late David and Flonnie Morgan McLamb. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Barber McLamb; brothers, Malah McLamb, Grallon McLamb, Willard McLamb, Carlyle McLamb, Graham McLamb, Cleveland “Pete” McLamb, and Jesse Clayton McLamb; and sisters, Rachel M. Raynor, B. Ethel M. Warren, Delitha McLamb, Doris M. Beasley, and Geraldine M. Surles. Mr. McLamb was a Partner, the President, and the Credit Manager for Interstate Distributors, Inc. of Dunn as well as a farmer all of his life. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a proud 32nd Degree Mason and member of Relief Lodge #431 of Benson. Mr. McLamb was a very active member of his community and served as a board member of BB&T Bank for many years, he was the founder of Johnston County Heritage Days, a big supporter of the Youth Livestock Show and 4H, and was committed to the Miracle League of Johnston County. His family will remember him as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and “Ice Cream Connoisseur” who had the best recipe for homemade ice cream. He loved spending time with his family any chance he could but loved Christmas especially where he had a tradition of inventing and playing a game that everyone, even the youngest grandchild, could play along with the family and enjoy their time.
Surviving are his children, Teresa Alphin and husband, Ernest, Monty McLamb and wife, Kimberly, and Nicole Ritchie and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Clint Alphin, Nina Butts and husband, Ray, Mitchell McLamb, Cliff McLamb and wife, Lacey, and Anna Lia Ritchie; great grandchildren, Courtney Butts and Ella Butts; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM prior to the service at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church at 929 Pleasant Hill Church Rd, Benson, NC 27504 or to The Miracle League of Johnston County at P.O. Box 808 Smithfield, NC 27577.
