David Snead

Four Oaks NC: Mr. David Garner Snead, age 83, of 1771 Strickland's Crossroads Rd. died Friday at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Monday at Antioch United Methodist Church, Four Oaks. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Snead was born June 6, 1932 in Johnston County to the late Waylon D. and Sudie Massengill Snead. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lillie Leveris and Mary Evelyn Beaver. Mr. Snead was a retired Johnston County Deputy Sherriff with 22 years of service, and was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church.  He was a US Navy veteran serving in the  Korean War,  member of the Four Oaks American Legion Post 346,  and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Smithfield. Mr. Snead was also a former member of Banner Post 109 American Legion in Benson. Surviving are wife of 40 years, Merle Bryant Snead; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Lee of Erwin; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Tommy Spradling of Four Oaks, Glenda and Harry Denton of Coats and Jane Batten of Benson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Talmadge and Rochelle Snead of Four Oaks and Waylon and Barbara Snead of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Sunday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home.   Flowers are welcomed, however, memorials may be directed to Antioch UMC Memorial Fund, c/o Eva Hall, PO Box 835, Benson, NC 27504.             Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.roseandgraham.com
