Dennis Wayne Jones

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Dennis Wayne Jones, age 72, of Strickland’s Crossroads Road passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by his loving family. Graveside Services will be held 11:00AM Friday, August 27, 2021 at Pauline Baptist Church Cemetery in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Dr. Robert Cooke.

Mr. Jones was born on November 24, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Earl and Eunice Mae Benson Jones. He was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Jones and a sister, Vickie Jones Sanders. Mr. Jones was a retired truck driver and owned Dennis Jones Trucking Company. He served his country as a US Marine Special Forces Recon during the Vietnam War.

Surviving include his wife of 30 years, Ruth W. Jones; children, Rae Boyd and husband, Jamie of Selma, Joy Ennis and husband, Shannon of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Erika Hinnant, Callie Austene, Mallory Lippitt, Rick Bartholomew, Harley Bartholomew, Payton Ennis; great-granddaughter, Ausley Hinnant; sisters, Brenda Jones of Smithfield and Janice Neill and husband, Max of Cherryville, NC; brother, Jimmy B. Jones of Smithfield; several nieces and nephews.

There will be an open-door visitation from 1:00PM-5:00PM, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks. The family will not be present during this time.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service on Friday at the cemetery and other times at the home.

In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Face coverings are not required, but are kindly recommended for all services.
