Diane Branagan Ireland

Mrs. Diane Ireland, age 64, of Four Oaks, NC, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at SECU Hospice of Johnston Health in Smithfield with her husband and family by her side. Memorial Services will be held at 5:00PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Rev. Diane Cox will officiate. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Diane was born Diane Kathryn Branagan on July 28, 1959, in Hamilton, NY.  She is the daughter of the late Kathryn Ashmus (Branagan)(Nash) Altomer of NC, and is preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert Joseph “BJ” Nash, Tully, NY. She was a graduate of Tully High School, Tully, NY. Diane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was passionate about her “horse” and was a member of the NC Eastern Reining Horse Association and enjoyed competing in reining events. Diane worked for Hanson Aggregates for seven years starting out driving articulating dump trucks and later working at the quarry weigh stations and office manager.

Mrs. Diane Ireland leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Dave Ireland of 32 years; daughter, Brandilyn Ireland of Greensboro NC and twins, Robert Joseph “RJ” Ireland of Four Oaks, NC and Deanna (Derek) Ireland of Durham, NC;  twin sister, Deborah (James) Davis of Benson, NC; sister, Ann (Donald) Dorward of Four Oaks, NC; brother James Branagan of Weedsport, NY; her father, David Branagan, Locke, NY; cherished step-father, Robert (Barbara) Nash of Pleasant Shade, TN; a grandson, Noah Ireland of Louisiana; and several nieces, great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the SECU Hospice House of Johnston Heath, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577 - (919) 209-5100.
