Dunn, NC: Mrs. Doris Evelyn "Gypsy Rose" Lee Hodges, age 92, of 3435 US 301 North passed away Sunday at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Daniel Farris will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.
Mrs. Hodges was born October 1, 1923 in Johnston County to the late John and Mildred McLamb Lee. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Mack Lee, grandfathers, D. Lee and William Guthrie McLamb and her grandmother, Katie Honeycutt McLamb. Mrs. Hodges graduated from Dunn High School and also attended post graduate school. She participated in first Mule Days parade in Benson. Mrs. Hodges was a retired bookkeeper for Block's Shirt Factory and Bonder's. She was also the owner and operator of Unprecedented Care, a family owned and operated rest home outside Dunn.
Surviving are children and spouses, Thomas and Jan Matthews-Hodges and Sandra Hodges and Jerry Neighbors all of Dunn; five grandchildren, Cathy Battle, John Neighbors, William Michael Hodges, Thomma Elizabeth Hodges, and Katie Thomas Hodges and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Grace.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 1:00 PM-1:45 PM prior to the service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.
