Durwood Canaday

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Durwood Glandys Canaday, age 67, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Service will be 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks, NC . Revs. Jessie Brock and Ernie Sanchez will officiate.   Mr. Canaday was born on March 22, 1951 in Johnston County to the late John G. "Rusty" and Florence Stanley Canaday.  He retired from the News and Observer with 34 years of service as the vice president of classified advertising. After having an impact on all those he worked with he continued influencing everyone he came in contact with.  Mr. Canaday was a member of Burnell Baptist Church. Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Joy Canaday of Four Oaks; Jeremy and Ashlee Canaday of Willow Spring; grandchildren, Nathan Canaday, Addison Canaday and Wyatt Canaday; sisters and brother-in-law, Wilma Joyce and William Lassiter and Linda Sue Canaday all of Four Oaks.           The family will receive friends following the funeral service on Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to one's favorite charity or to Burnell Baptist Church 3720 Old School Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
