Edna "Polly" Stewart

Benson: Mrs. Edna “Polly” Surles Stewart, age 86, died Monday, October 1, 2012, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.  Funeral services will be 11:00AM Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Condary Ellis and Rev. Michael Preddy.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Stewart was born in Johnston County on October 27, 1925 to the late Walter A. “Bill” and Eva Moore Surles.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Carl” Stewart and daughter, Brenda Gay Stewart.  Mrs. Stewart was a member of Hodges Chapel PFWB Church and the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.  She was a homemaker.   Surviving, are children & spouses, Glenda & R. L. Godwin of Benson, Johnny C. & Peggy Stewart of Dunn, and Tony L. Stewart and fiancee, Margaret Garland of Fayetteville; Grandchildren, Timmy Godwin, Shane Stewart, Donnie Stewart, David Godwin, Melinda Stewart, and Justin Stewart; and Great Grandchildren, Bailey Stewart, Gabby Godwin, Madison Barnes, and Adam Godwin.  Family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30AM to 10:30AM Wednesday at Hodges Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
