Elder J. M. Mewborn

Dunn, NC: Elder J. M. Mewborn, age 79, of 2650 NC HWY 55 East died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Western Wake Medical Center in Cary. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Elder Ernest Duncan. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.  Elder Mewborn was born May 12, 1932 in Greene County to the late Joshua Eugene Mewborn and Emma Turnage Mewborn. He was also preceded in death by a Daughter-In-Law, Ann Bethune Mewborn. Elder Mewborn was a member of Mewborn Primitive Baptist Church in Snow Hill. He was a Primitive Baptist Minister, and owned and operated the Willow Spring Insurance Agency until his retirement in 1995. Elder Mewborn also was the editor of Zion’s Landmark, a publication for the Primitive Baptist faith. Surviving include his Wife of 53 years, Susan Turlington Mewborn; Children & Spouses, Cynthia M. & Ronald Eason of Willow Spring, Lydia M. & Allen Smith of Durham, John M. Mewborn, Jr. of Lillington, and Suzanne M. & Sean Campbell of Anderson, SC; Sister, Ruth M. Martin of Greenville; Brother, Henry T. Mewborn of Snow Hill; Grandchildren, Allen D. Smith, III, P. Cameron Mewborn, and John “Jay” M. Mewborn, III. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday, March 18, 2012.
