Elgie Jones Temple

Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Elgie Jones Temple, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center in Benson, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Walter Gaskins will officiate.

Mrs. Temple was born on October 10, 1930 in Johnston County, NC, to the late Sallie Adams and James B. Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton E. Temple, brothers, James O. Jones and Aaron B. Jones. Mrs. Temple retired from South Johnston High School as a cafeteria worker, and also was a homemaker.

Surviving include her daughters, Jean T. Pender and husband Jimmie, and Debra Pope and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Lori Blackmon (Gregg), April Lewis (Scott), Adam Woodall (Catherine), Patrick Pope (Heather), and Randy Pender; great-grandchildren, Lauren Register, Lindsay Allen, Graylee Lewis, Wilton Woodall, Eva Pope, Emmett Pope, Eisley Pope, Amber Pender and Matthew Pender; brother, Ralph G. Jones; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the Antioch Church UMW, C/O Jean Pender, PO Box 37, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
