Mrs. Eugenia Hall Spruill, age 86, passed away on April 26, 2024 in Benson, North Carolina. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Lemuel Shepherd Spruill, Sr.; her parents, Lillian Gertude Hall and Marvin Hall; her son, Lemuel S. Spruill Jr.; and her grandson, David M. Seal.
She is survived by 5 children, Linda Seal, Connie Spruill-Adelman, David Curtis Spruill, Eric M. Spruill, and Amy Worthington; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
She was a partner with her husband in the family business, Spruill’s Grading and Clearing. She worked occasionally at Teeuwen Greenhouses LTD. with her long-time friend, Sonja. Mostly, she was the homemaker and caregiver for her family. She was known to her family as Mom, Mamma, Grandma, and Great Grandma. To her friends, she was known as “Jean”. She is still remembered for always having her home on Shillelagh Road in Chesapeake, VA, open, providing home-cooked meals, southern sweet tea, holiday gatherings, and always leftovers to take home.
She had a determination and stubbornness that she passed on to all her children. She learned to drive in her 30’s by driving a 1957 two tone green ford up and down the driveway. She was proud when she passed. From that moment and forever, she drove like a teenager.
The family would like to thank our sister, Linda Seal, for caring for Momma the past 8 years. We would also like to thank Greenleaf Care Center Hospice for taking such good care of her during her last days.
Although family is scattered, we all share and celebrate the love, life, and memories of our Mom, Mamma, Grandma, and Great Grandma in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Japan. May God give you peace as you rest.
We Love you!
