Mrs. Joyner was born on March 1, 1930 in Wayne County to the late Charlie William and Ruth Ellen Mozingo Barwick. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy McKinney; sisters and brother, Betty Lou Watson, Wilma Rae Kohnen, and Arnold Barwick. Mrs. Joyner was born and raised on a farm and knew the meaning of hard work. She worked most of her life in different areas from nursing, to a drug store clerk, manufacturing, and a homemaker. Mrs. Joyner loved spending time with her family especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She knew her way around the kitchen made the best biscuit pudding, fudge, lemon, chocolate, and pecan pies. Mrs. Joyner loved her Saturday trips of getting her pedicure and going to Walmart. In her past times she loved working in her yard and putting 1000-piece puzzles together. She loved watching her game shows and the old black and white Westerns with John Wayne and Matt Dillon. Mrs. Joyner also loved traveling anywhere she could get a chance to go especially Montana and Yellowstone Park. She was the Matriarch of the Barwick Family and kept everyone in their place. If you were “Number One” on her list, it is time to call or visit. The last two years of her life she was bedridden and she showed her family and friends that no matter what path God puts before you we must fight the good fight of faith and finish our course strong. Mrs. Joyner finished strong.
