Evelyn Blackmon Jones

Mrs. Evelyn Blackmon Jones, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center in Benson, NC, surrounded by her loving daughters.  Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Sunday October 15, 2023 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC.  Rev.  Billie Lawson will officiate. Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield, NC.

Mrs. Jones was born on December 10, 1935 in Johnston County, NC to the late Richard Handy and Vonnie Johnson Blackmon.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Nowell Jones, sister, Myrtle Faye Byrd, and a brother, Ray Blackmon.  Mrs. Jones was a retired cafeteria manager with Johnston County Schools.  She was a member of Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones loved to cook, sew, read, and loved the mountains.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie J. Barbour and husband, J.C. of Clayton, NC, and Belinda J. Kiziah and husband, Rick of Benson, NC; grandchildren, Valerie Thompson and husband, Jon, Amy Poole and husband, Mark, Chad Barbour and wife, Jennie, Douglas Moore and wife, Cyndal, Andrew Kiziah and wife, Kristin, Kayla Weeks and husband, Dusty, and Garrett Kiziah and fiancée, Payton; great-grandchildren, Bryson David Overby, Jonathan Robert Thompson, Jordan Nowell Thompson, Lellon Grace Overby, Ashton Leo Barbour, Ava Leigh Barbour, Olive Brooks Moore, Mattie Grace Weeks, Lilah Rose Moore and Graham Wilson Weeks; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM Saturday, October 14, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC, and other times at the home of her daughters, Belinda Kiziah 116 Phyllis Drive, Benson, NC 27504 and also at the home of Debbie Barbour 525 Green Path, Clayton, NC 27527.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the Choir Fund at Benson Baptist Church PO Box 323, Benson, NC 27504 or to the Choir Fund at Pisgah Baptist Church 3869 NC HWY 210, Smithfield, NC 27577.
