Mrs. Frances Giles Johnson age 94, of 8192 NC 50 Hwy N, Angier, departed this life on the morning of April 13, 2012. Family visitation will be on Monday, April 16, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at Johnson Memorial Church (8280 NC 50 Hwy N, Angier, 27501) with a Celebration of Life following at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Rev. Chris Searles and Dr. Herbert Carter will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, Aulmon and Lula Giles; her husband, James Ruffin Johnson, Jr; four brothers: Conrad, Hubert, Aulmon, Frank, and Bert Giles; two sisters: Olivia Giles and Inez Thompson.
She is survived by Daughters & Sons-in-law: Rev. Judi J & Joseph Smith, of Angier; and Sue J. & Jerome Langdon of Angier; Sister, Betty Jane Kolodge of Cloquet, Minnesota; Grandsons, Marc R. Barbour and wife Kimberly of Myrtle Beach, SC and V. Carter Smith of Raleigh; Four Great-Grandchildren, Duncan and Connor Barbour and Carter Jr, and Elizabeth Smith; and several nephews and nieces.
Frances was a founding member of Johnson Memorial Church and was a charter member of the Lillie Johnson Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to helping her husband on the farm, she was employed for many years with Boylan-Pearce in Raleigh and Neta’s Gift Shop in Benson, N.C. Her zest for life and joy in its living endeared her to all whom she knew.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to the nurses and staff at Liberty Commons Rehabilitation Center in Benson for their care over the past year.
