Frances Dew Whittington

Benson, NC: Mrs. Frances Dew Whittington, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Nash UNC Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM-Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Benson City Cemetery in Benson, NC. Dr. Lawrence Powers will officiate.

Mrs. Whittington was born on June 21, 1925 in Edgecombe County, NC to the late Frank and Nanny Fly Dew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hector Whittington and her son-in-law, John Allen. Mrs. Whittington was a retired sales clerk in the clothing industry and was a homemaker. She was a member of Benson Baptist Church in Benson, NC.

Surviving include her daughter, Patricia W. Allen; grandchildren, Jenna Allen and Barrett Allen and wife, Nikkie; great-grandchildren, Noah Garrett Evenson, Brooke Elizabeth Evenson and Grayden Rose Allen; several nieces and nephews.

There will be an open-door visitation from 1:00PM-5:00PM, Friday August 20, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. The family will not be present during this time.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service on Saturday at the cemetery.

In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Masks are required for all services.
