Geneil "Jill" Pope

Benson: Mrs. Geneil “Jill” Herring Pope, age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Funeral Service will be 3:00PM Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Old Mill Church of God, 190 Williams Lake Road in Roseboro. Rev. Jimmy Honeycutt and Rev. Gary Bateman will officiate.  Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Dunn.             Mrs. Pope was born July 26, 1952 in Sampson County to the late William Albert “Two Shot” and Lecie Phillips Herring.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Danny Bayless.  Mrs. Pope worked at Bowman Enterprises in Benson and was a member of Old Mill Church of God.             Surviving are Son, William Beryle “Jim” Pope of Raleigh; Sisters & Brothers-in-Law, Ann & Robert Boyette of Dunn, Barbara & Dale Autry of Autryville, and Dawn & Lee Goodman of Godwin; Brothers & Sisters-in-Law, Jay & Cindy Herring, Ricky & Rhonda Herring, and John “Cracker” & Wendy Herring, all of Benson; Foster Daughter, Shelby Johnson of Wilmington; Foster Brother, Gilbert Avery and wife, Jackie, of Newton Grove; 4 Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 7:00PM to 9:00PM Friday, January 6, 2012, and other times at the home of Dawn & Lee Goodman, 14301 Dunn Road, Godwin, NC.
