Glenn Walton "Goody" Adams

Mr. Glenn Walton “Goody” Adams, age 83, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC.  Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC.  Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate.  Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson, NC.

Mr. Adams was born on January 10, 1941 in Johnston County, NC to the late Charlie Allen Adams and Bettie Ellen Lee Adams. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mae Parker Adams, daughter, Patricia Ann Clayton, granddaughter, Merritt Marler Ennis, and his siblings, Ruby Ludwick, Jader Adams, Allene McNeish, Elgie Barefoot, Margie McLamb, J.L. Adams, and Charles Adams, Jr. Mr. Adams retired as Correctional Officer from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, and was also a retired farmer. He enjoyed cutting grass on his Farmall Cub tractor, loved sports, was a great historian, and fed wild animals every evening. Every day he would patrol the farm on his golf cart, making sure everything was in place. His greatest love was his family.  

Survivors include his son, Jimmy Marler and wife, Ruth of Pine Level, NC; grandchildren, Kim Morris and Craig Hart of Four Oaks, NC, Tyler Bailey and wife, Taylor of Smithfield, NC, Andrew Bailey and wife, Kelly of Clayton, NC; great-grandchildren, Carlie Morris and Payton Ennis; many loving nieces and nephews, and special niece, Jana Dorman and husband, Terry of Dunn, NC, and nephew, Joel Adams of Benson, NC. 

The family will receive friends from 1:45PM-2:45PM prior to the service on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC, and at the farm on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 12:00PM-5:00PM and on Sunday May 26, 2024 from 12:00PM-5:00PM, and following the funeral service on Tuesday. 

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House PO Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577.
