Gloria Matthews

Benson, NC:  Mrs. Gloria Ann Evans Matthews, age 85, died Monday at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson.  Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Michael  Wilburn and Billy Nowell.  Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.Mrs. Matthews was born November 9, 1931 in Person County to the late Eugene and Bettie Stone Evans.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donford Matthews; sisters, Mussette Hawkins and Verna Wilburn; brothers, Tom Evans and Eugene Evans.  Mrs. Matthews was a homemaker and member of Stevens Chapel Free Will  Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary.Surviving include sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall and Hazel Matthews and Anthony and Laurie Matthews all of Erwin, Garry and Barbara Matthews of Surf City, Ronald and Ronda Matthews of Benson, Timmy and Rose Matthews of Willow Spring; daughter, Melinda Matthews of Benson; sisters, Thurma Stephenson of Benson and Shirley Holland of Elon College; brothers, Jack Evans of Benson and Billy Evans of Richmond, VA; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends 6:00PM - 8:00PM Tuesday at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home of Timmy and Rose Matthews, 109 Bluebird Lane, Willow Spring, NC 27592.Flowers are welcome; however, memorials may be made to Liberty Commons, c/o Christine Gregory, 2315 Hwy 242 N, Benson, NC 27504.Service Information
