Grace Watkins

Dunn, NC: Ms. Grace Matthews Watkins, age 90, of 111 Sue Ave died Wednesday at Harnett Woods Nursing Home in Dunn. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Coats United Methodist Church in Coats. Rev. Paul Cecil will officiate.               Ms. Watkins was born on December 4, 1928 in Harnett County to the late Hubert Matthews and Corney Mae Upchurch Norris.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lee Watkins; daughter, Bonnie Lou Watkins Poole. Ms. Watkins retired from Terry Hill after 20 years of service and was a caregiver for many years. Ms. Watkins was a charter member of Coats Methodist Church where she served in many capacities.                Survivors include her children and spouses, Johnny Lee Watkins and wife, Sherry of Dunn; Betty W. Barnes and husband, David of Coats; Susan Matthews Watkins Thompson and husband, Garland of Angier; four grandchildren and spouses, Kenneth Watkins and wife, Lauren, Matthew Poole and wife, Aurielle, Brandon Lee Thompson,  Lauren Brooke Thompson; great-granddaughter, Grace Watkins; five step-grandchildren; ten step- great-grandchildren; half-brothers, Travis Norris of Buies Creek and Flemming Norris of Buies Creek; several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home of Betty and David Barnes 116 Paul Clayton Circle Coats, NC 27521.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coats United Methodist Church P.O.
