Graham Langdon

May 21, 1933 — August 4, 2011

Angier, NC:  Mr. Graham Malcom Langdon, age 78, of 5098-A Zacks Mill Road went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2011, surrounded by the family at the homeplace where he was born and lived most of his life. Funeral service will be 3:00PM Saturday at Friendly Chapel PFWB Church.  Rev. R. B. Parrish and Brother Mack Fowler will officiate.  Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Mr. Langdon was born May 21, 1933 to the late Malcom Thomas and Ada Frances Byrd Langdon.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronny Graham Langdon; granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Langdon; sisters, Magalene Jones and Betty Carpenter; and brother, Vonzo Barbour. Mr. Langdon was an active member and benefactor of Friendly Chapel PFWB Church at McGee’s Crossroads where he currently served as an Elder, Trustee, and Deacon.  He served as President and Treasurer of the Brotherhood.  He loved his Lord and his church. Mr. Langdon grew up on the family farm that has passed from generation to generation.  He began his career as a tobacco farmer and in the 1980’s, he transitioned completely to sweet potatoes and served as sweet potato commissioner.  He established Brookhill Farms and was a successful grower, packer and wholesaler of sweet potatoes.  In addition to farming, he owned and operated a successful garage and parts department and a trucking company.  He served his community as a fertilizer and farm equipment dealer, Farm Bureau dealer for over 30 years, and served as a 50-210 volunteer fireman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Parker Langdon; daughters, Ann Petit of Angier, Teresa Langdon of Sherrills Ford, NC, and Marie Sutton of Bunnlevel; grandsons, Ronny Langdon, Jr., Damien King, Chad Petit, Kevin Petit; granddaughter, Kinsey Sutton; and great grandchildren, Lauren Langdon, Wesley Langdon, and Lana King; and Sister, Merlene L. King of Garner. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Hospice of Wake County for their loving care and comfort they provided during his illness. Family will receive friends at Friendly Chapel Church from 1:00PM to 2:30PM Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 W. Evergreen Avenue, Suite 303, Chicago, IL 60642.
