Coats, NC: Mr. Granville Emmit Avery, age 67, of 66 Durane Street passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerome Pope and Pastor Eddie White. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park, Erwin.
Mr. Avery was born June 22, 1946 in Harnett County to the late Garland Emmit & Evelyn Poole Avery. Mr. Avery was a US veteran serving in Vietnam. Mr. Avery was a retired US postmaster; serving 38 years in Lillington and Coats.
Surviving are his Wife of forty-five years, Darlene Barefoot Avery; Sons and Daughter- In- Law, Chad Avery of Coats, Dwayne and Nichole Avery of Sanford and Troy Avery of Coats; Sisters and Brothers-In-Law, Maxine and Lynwood Massengill of Dunn and Judy and Fleming Norris of Lillington ; Brothers and Sister-In-Law, Tony Avery of Dunn and Terry and Rose Avery of Fayetteville; Five Grandchildren, Sunny Reese Avery, Grayson Cross Avery, Destiny, T.J. and Victoria ; Six Great Grandchildren and Step-Grandson, Nathan Knight.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats and other times at the home of Maxine Massengill 280 Green Forest Circle, Dunn, NC 28334.
