Helen Massengill

Benson, NC: Mrs. Helen Lee Massengill, age 89, of 390 Godwin Lake Rd. died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be the Revs. Virgil Murphy and Ronnie Jones. Burial will follow in the Massengill Family Cemetery, Benson.      Mrs. Massengill was born September 15, 1924 in Johnston County to the late James W. and Mattie Mae Wood Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Massengill; and a son, John David Massengill. Mrs. Massengill was a dedicated member of New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. She was a homemaker and farmer.      Surviving are sons, Jimmy N. Massengill, Sr., and wife, Kaye, and Tony Wood Massengill and wife, Bonny, all of Benson; daughter, Dr. Ann Massengill Ortiz and husband, Francisco, of Benson; daughters-in-law, Judy B. Massengill of Cary and Sandra M. Daniels and husband, Bill, of Benson; Thirteen Grandchildren; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Ann "Lib" Minges of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Lola McLamb of Benson; and Several Nieces and Nephews.      Family will receive friends 6:00PM until 8:00PM Sunday, September 29, 2013, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.      Flowers are welcomed; however memorials may be made to New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, P.
