Hilda Lawhorn Honeycutt

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Hilda Lawhorn Honeycutt, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral Services will be 11:00AM-Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Benson Baptist Church in Benson, NC. Dr. Lawrence Powers will officiate. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. 

Mrs. Honeycutt was born on November 24, 1930 in Johnston County, NC to the late Ernie Demce and Naomi Ellen Beasley Lawhorn. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ann Ruth Lawhorn Tart; and a brother, Ernie Whitt Lawhorn. Mrs. Honeycutt graduated from Meadow High School in 1949 and attended Hardbarger’s Business College.  She started working with Carolina Telephone in Dunn in 1950 as a switch board operator and retired from Sprint Telephone in 1995 working with sales and advertising for Yellow Pages. She volunteered with the Contact Helpline. Mrs. Honeycutt loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed collecting recipes and inspirational quotes. She was a member of Benson Baptist Church. 

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Earl L. Honeycutt; son, Dwight L. Honeycutt and wife, Rev. Jeanette Stokes of Durham; grandchildren, Joshua Wood Honeycutt, Greta Lawhorn Honeycutt and husband, Micheal Rourke; brother, Joe D. Lawhorn and wife, Lois of McGee’s Crossroads; many nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM-10:45AM-Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the Benson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall prior to the service. 

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Benson Baptist Church, P.O. Box 323, Benson, NC 27504.
