Benson, NC:  Mr. Howard Hampton Johnson, age 88, of 604 West Parrish Drive died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Funeral Service will be 11:00AM  Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.  Officiating will be Rev. Paul Burgess.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.               Mr. Johnson was born April 15, 1929 in Johnston County to the late C. Ham and Nellie Hardee Johnson.  He was also predeceased in death by his wife, Marie Grimes Johnson and 10 siblings. Mr. Johnson was the retired owner and operator of Johnson Discount Center in Benson.  He was a member of Benson Baptist Church and Banner Post 109 America Legion.  He was an avid golfer and accomplished 4 holes in one. Mr. Johnson was awarded Town of Benson Volunteer of the Year, 2009 Citizen of the Year and 2015 Humanitarian Award. He served in the '60's & '70's as a Town of Benson Volunteer Fireman, 1973 Benson Chamber of Commerce President, 1975-1979 Benson Town Commissioner and the South Johnston High School Advisory Board.             He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Don H. and Jenny Johnson of West Palm Beach, FL and Keith G. and Cathy Johnson of Benson; brother-in-law, Walter Stancil of Four Oaks;  grandchildren and spouses, Hunter Alan and Jessica Johnson of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Matthew Wood and Samantha Johnson of Boston, MA, Hampton Blake and Sara Johnson of  Jupiter, FL and Renna Marie Johnson and fiancé, Matthew McLamb of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Everett Johnson, Carter Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Graham Johnson and Wyatt Johnson; special friend, Doris S. Lee of Benson; and many nieces and nephews.             Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM - 8:00PM Friday, April 6,  2018 and other times at the home of Keith & Cathy Johnson, 500 W.
