Howard Benton Barefoot

Benson, NC: Mr. Howard Benton Barefoot, age 86, of Godwin Lake Road died on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at The Greens in Pinehurst. Graveside Services will be 2:00PM Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Leon Tart.             Mr. Barefoot was born on June 30, 1934 in Johnston County to the late Percy L. and Lessie Mae Morgan Barefoot. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, John Vinson Barefoot, I. D. Barefoot, Ila Mae Stewart, and Martha Lee Beasley. Mr. Barefoot retired from the US Military Army Corp of Engineers and also retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections. He was a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109 in Benson.             Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Theraldine B. Barefoot of Benson; daughter, Cynthia Barefoot Barbour and husband, Ricky of Benson; granddaughter, Casey Lynn Barbour and fiancé, Chris Hawkins of New Bern; several nieces and nephews.             The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home of Cynthia Barbour, 5595 Godwin Lake Road Benson, NC 27504.    In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
