Hubert Cecil Gregory

Coats, NC:  Mr.  Hubert Cecil Gregory, age 79, of 1521 Old Stage Road North, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, June 5, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church, 894 Main Street, Lillington, NC 27546.  Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier, NC. Officiating will be Pastor Dale Wallace and Pastor David Morris.           Mr. Gregory was born on March 28, 1941 in Harnett County to the late Hubert Columbus and Dorothy Matthews Gregory. He was preceded in death by his brother, Buddy Gregory. Mr. Gregory was a farmer and retired from Winn Dixie as a truck driver. He proudly served the Buies Creek Fire Department and retired with 40 years of service.  Cecil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle.  He devoted his time to making sure that everyone in his life was taken care of.  He spent his adult life serving his family, his church family, and his community.  He will always be remembered for all the dedication that he gave to so many different things. He loved to be apart of summer church camp, coaching, watching his kids, grandkids, other locals kids, keeping the fire department yard, church yard or his in-law yard in pristine condition.   He was a joy to be around, and had a true heart of gold, which was an example of a lifelong service to others before himself.             Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Sophia Savage Gregory; children, Kathy Sorrell and husband, Vann of Buies Creek, Dale Gregory and wife, Michelle of Meadow and Erica Tart and husband, Steven of Coats; grandchildren, Joshua Sorrell and wife, Amber, Ethan Sorrell and wife, Caroline, Caleb Gregory and wife, Sydney, Steven Sorrell, Austin Gregory, Rebecca Sorrell, Allyson Tart and Aubrey Tart; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Cayden and Hadley; sisters, Doris Sills of Angier, Hazel Matthews of Erwin, and Karen McLamb of Garner, brother, Donnie Gregory of Hamlet; many nieces and nephews.             A drive through visitation will be held 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Buies Creek Fire Department. Please take Marshbanks Street and take a right on to Mae Byrd Road and enter the Fire Department. You will be asked to stay in your car and enter through the bay of the department.  Please follow the directions once arriving to the department.                 Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church, PO Box 53, Buies Creek, NC 27506 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 5171 Glenwood Ave, Suite, 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.             Due to the current health concerns the family understands if you are not able to join them for the services.
