Hughie Elwood Newton

Buies Creek, NC: Mr. Hughie Elwood Newton, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Central Harnett Hospital in Lillington, NC. The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

Mr. Newton was born on October 14, 1939 in Harnett County to the late Alvin C. and Iva Wester Newton. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Newton; and brother, John Carlton Newton. Mr. Newton retired from Winn-Dixie after 35 years.

Surviving are his sisters, Joyce Bruce of Clayton and Linda Young of Angier; brothers, Wayne Newton of Buies Creek and David Newton of Buies Creek; faithful pets, Jackson and Gunter; and several nieces and nephews.
