Irene Wood

Benson, NC: Mrs. Irene McLamb Wood, age 92, of 350 Old Fire Tower Road died Wednesday at Betsy Johnson in Dunn.  Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Friday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson.  Officiating will be Rev. Bennie Grimes.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson. Mrs. Wood was born December 25, 1923 in Johnston County to the late George and Rossie Raynor McLamb.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Junior Wood; infant son, Gary Lee Wood; sisters, Flonnie Thornton, Christine Jernigan and Lula Mae Young; brothers, John McLamb, Jasper McLamb. Brack McLamb and Jason D. McLamb.  Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and also a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Pete Byrd of Benson; son, Curtis Lynn Wood, of Benson and fiancée, Tammy Emanuel of Dunn; grandchildren and spouses, Shannon and Jay Austin, Scott Byrd and fiancée, Sherry Bonham, and Tina and Todd Barbee; four great grandchildren;  several special nieces and nephews.
